About us
We built the private-market dataset we could not buy
SheetVenture tracks companies, investors and disclosed funding rounds across private markets, and puts them behind research tools founders and funds actually use.
Live coverage
The dataset, right now
These figures are read from the database when this page is built. They are not marketing rounding, and they move as coverage grows.

The problem we started with
Private-market information is scattered across press releases, registries, fund websites and paid databases that disagree with one another. A founder trying to find investors genuinely active in their stage and sector spends weeks assembling a list that is out of date before the first email goes out.
The expensive incumbents are not fixing this. They sell breadth and confidence — big round numbers, little disclosure about what is missing. We took the opposite position: publish the coverage, publish the gaps, and let the data be checked.
What we do
Track capital as it moves
Funding rounds, investors and companies are imported in batches and enriched continuously by background workers, so activity reflects the last few weeks rather than the last annual report.
Make "active" mean something
An investor counts as active when they have taken part in a round in the last 18 months. It is recomputed after every import, so the label is a fact about the data rather than a flag somebody set once.
Answer questions, not just return rows
The research assistant answers from our own records first and says so when it falls back to the open web, so an answer can be traced instead of trusted blindly.
Show the gaps
Where coverage is partial we publish the percentage. Aggregates are always "of disclosed rounds", never an estimate presented as fact.
Who uses it
Founders raising
Build a target list of investors who actually invest at your stage, in your sector and in your region — and see who has been active recently.
Funds screening
Track competitors and co-investors, spot rounds early, and monitor the sectors you underwrite without maintaining a spreadsheet by hand.
Institutions and ecosystems
Follow capital flows across regions and sectors for policy work, LP reporting and ecosystem programmes.
How we work
- Publish the gaps. A number that can be disproved in one query costs more trust than it buys.
- Prefer a smaller true figure to a larger vague one.
- Never present an estimate as a fact. If a round amount was not disclosed, it stays undisclosed.
- Fix the record when it is wrong. If something looks off, it usually is, and we want to hear about it.
See the coverage before you decide
Every figure on this page is checkable. The coverage page shows what we track, how fresh it is, and exactly what is missing.
